Infotrak Research and Consulting released its performance ranking on Monday, June 10, showing President William Ruto's performance dip from a C grade to a D grade in two months.

The research firm's report showed that Ruto's performance declined from 52 percent in March 2024 to 46 percent in May 2024, citing four reasons behind the drop.

Among them is his poor communication with Kenyans about what he and his administration were doing as well as poor competency/ability to deliver on the assigned roles/tasks.

For other reasons, Ruto was blamed for failure to address issues affecting Kenyans and poor success in improving how things are done in his office.

The D grade puts him in the same category as his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua. However, Gachagua recorded a 42 percent performance in May 2024, a drop from 48 percent in March 2024, the reasons given for the poor performance are similar to those of Ruto.

Ruto's Cabinet Secretaries were not spared in the report with a majority of them scoring D of between 48 per cent and 41 per cent. Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi featured in the last position with an E of 39 per cent after his Energy counterpart, Davis Chirchir.

However, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki was ranked as the best-performing CS in the Kenya Kwanza government with 60 percent followed by his Sports counterpart Ababu Namwamba at 52 percent.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale came in third place at 50 percent with ICT CS Eliud Owalo and Environment CS Soipan Tuya tying in fourth at 49 percent.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu came in the sixth spot with 47 percent, tying with Alfred Mutua and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi.

Other CSs who performed poorly were Public Service CS Moses Kuria, Labour CS Florence Bore, and Lands CS Alice Wahome.

The Infotrak poll also examined the performances of various government institutions as well as the opposition. In the May rating, the Judiciary's performance dropped from a B of 67 per cent to a D of 46 per cent.

The bicameral Parliament, both the National Assembly and Senate, also dropped from a C of 53 percent to a D of 42 percent while the opposition dropped from a B of 62 percent to a D of 47 percent.
