Jamaican dancehall star Chinsea Linda Lee, better known as Shenseea, revealed on Wednesday, August 23 that she was heartbroken on learning that her highly anticipated concert in Kenya was rescheduled to a later date.

In a video she shared on her Instagram stories, the Shen Yeng Anthem hitmaker issued an apology to Kenyans who had waited for more than a month to see her perform live in the 254.

She divulged the unfortunate circumstances that led to the concert being postponed to a yet-to-be-disclosed date in October, though she did not dive deeper into the details.

Shenseea however promised that she would give her Kenyan fans a show they will never forget when a new date will be announced.

"First off Kenya, let me start by saying that I love you guys so much but I'm sorry everything did not go as we were all expecting.

"I'm really disappointed because I was looking forward to coming there and having a grand time with you guys but just know that when I do touch down there it's going to be problems," she promised.

Her sentiments come hot on the heels of an official announcement made by the organisers of the festival, the Sababisha Festival, that the concert which was set to take place on Saturday, August 26 was moved to a later date in October.

They noted that the decision followed lengthy consultations involving the Blessed hitmaker's management team, even though they termed it as a tough one to make given that concert-goers and fans of the songstress had already made plans in advance to attend the showpiece.

"We are deeply sorry to announce that after long consultations between our ground team and Shenseea management team, we have made the decision to postpone the Sababisha Festival which was scheduled to happen on 26th August 2023 at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi, Kenya to a later date in October.

"This decision has not been easy on both parties. We acknowledge the disappointment you may feel, especially those who had locked in the date. However, we seek your patience and understanding during this time as we shall bounce you back to a thriving and vibrant experience soon," Sababisha Festival stated in part.

The organisers added that they are currently working and coordinating with all stakeholders to secure a new date, which shall be communicated in the coming days.

Shenseea confirmed on Thursday, July 6 that she would perform in Kenya, saying in a post that "Kenya I'm coming on August 26th at Uhuru Gardens", two days after Viral Tea first reported that she was set to perform in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

The event organisers had revealed to us at the time that they had sought her consent first before making public the announcement, evidenced by a poster which showed her as the headline act.

Ticket sales for the highly anticipated concert began on Tuesday, July 4, with a regular ticket setting one back Ksh3,000 while VIP tickets will go for Ksh8,000.
