Similar Mode Of Killing: DCI Speaks On 10 Female Bodies Found In Mukuru

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has hinted at the possibility of mass femicide after close to 10 bodies, all identified as female so far, were found in a quarry pit opposite Kware Police Station in Mukuru kwa Njenga.
In a statement, the DCI revealed that the investigative agency and the Embakasi Division Police were notified through an alert raised by members of the public in the Villa area at approximately 11.00 am on Friday, July 12.
"The alarm was raised following the discovery of six severely mutilated bodies, all female, in various stages of decomposition. The bodies were wrapped in nylon papers and reinforced with nylon ropes," the statement signed by DCI Director, Mohamed Amin, read in part.

DCI added that Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from Embakasi quickly arrived at the scene, retrieving the bodies and documenting the area.
Furthermore, preliminary investigations suggest a similar mode of killing for the deceased, hinting at a mass femicide that was carried out before the bodies were dumped in the river. However, it is yet to be clear the circumstances that culminated in the killings, which ignited rumours on social media that the alleged Githurai massacre may have occurred and kept under wraps.
The bodies have since been transported to the City Mortuary, where they await postmortem examinations.
Homicide detectives and officers from the Forensics Division of the DCI are currently analyzing samples to identify the bodies. The area has been cordoned off and designated as a crime scene as the investigation continues.
"As we await the findings from the post-mortem and forensic examinations, the DCI appeals to the public to cooperate with the authorities as investigations continue," DCI appealed.
The discovery has sent shockwaves through the Mukuru kwa Njenga community and beyond. Residents expressed their horror and fear over the incident, calling for swift justice and enhanced security measures.
The post-mortem examinations will be crucial in determining the exact cause of death and potentially identifying the victims.
The shocking discovery comes as alarming claims of abductions linked to anti-Finance Bill protests that have erupted over the past month.
According to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), at least 34 individuals have been abducted by security forces and subjected to torture since mid-June, in connection with the protests. Several others are indicated as being in hiding due to threats on their lives by unknown persons.
At least five remain unaccounted for, further compounding the fears surrounding state actions during this turbulent period.
As the DCI investigation unfolds, the focus will be on understanding the circumstances leading to this horrific crime, identifying the victims, and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
