Stop Threatening Me- Ruto Snaps At Uhuru [VIDEO]

He blamed the President for creating a sense of discord amongst Kenyans with less than two weeks to the August 9 general elections.

Deputy President William Ruto has strongly reprimanded President Uhuru Kenyatta for persistently threatening him during a series of campaign rallies.

Speaking in Kapsabet, Nandi County on Friday, July 29, the second-in-command strongly told his boss to focus on uniting Kenyans as he approaches the end of his 10-year term.

He blamed the President for creating a sense of discord amongst Kenyans with less than two weeks to the August 9 general elections.

"Please, President Uhuru, you should not be the source of threats in Kenya. Stop threatening Kenyans. Your work is to ensure all Kenyans remain united.

"Stop telling us you will know who the President is, we voted for you to be President of Kenyans. Stop threatening us, we are not cowards," he raged.

Ruto recounted how he and the rest of his supporters stood by the Head of State to the last breath, noting that it was Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, who has been the cause of anguish amongst Kenyans.

He challenged the President to focus on campaigning for Raila's presidency instead of persistently talking about him.

"I'm telling my friend Uhuru Kenyatta, please, when you needed people to stand by you, we stood by you to the last man. The Mr Kitendawili (Raila) you are convincing us to vote for is the one who tormented Kenyans and will torment you too.

"I want to tell you to stop attacking me verbally and campaign for your candidate. Why are you talking about me? Mr President, stop talking about me, talk about your candidate...leave William Ruto alone. I supported you when you needed a man to support you," he went on.

Ruto further asked his boss to leave him alone and focus on being a decent leader instead of constantly attacking him.

"If you do not want to support me, leave me alone. With a lot of respect, Mr President, be a decent human being, Be a gentleman, be grateful, we supported you...stop pretending. Do not harm my children.

"Now you have started threatening me with 'I don't know what you will do'. You and I should respect each other," he urged.

On Wednesday, July 27, the President accused his junior of lying to the residents of Nakuru and Mombasa counties and politicising the standard gauge railway (SGR) administrative decisions to gain political mileage.

"I can’t stand a liar. Kenya needs a leader who is development-oriented; one who can leverage the existing projects to improve the lives of the people.

“One cannot claim to be a great leader, yet he comes here and says: ‘as a government we love you, the people of Nakuru, and that’s why we launched the inland container depot’, yet when he goes to Mombasa, he tells the residents of that county: ‘those people (the Executive led by Uhuru Kenyatta) have transferred port operations from Mombasa to Naivasha. If you elect me, I’ll restore the operations in Mombasa’,” he said upon commissioning the Nakuru-Kisumu railway.

It is worth it to note that Ruto is on record saying that President Kenyatta’s government had replaced the initial plan of building an industrial city in Naivasha with an inland container depot (ICD), a move that, he claims, has reduced the potential of the Port of Mombasa and led to the loss of jobs.
