Nairobi Hospital Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo was on Friday, September 15 found dead in his home in Woodley Estate, Nairobi County, lying in a pool of blood with 16 stab wounds.

Confirming the incident, Kilimani Police Station boss Moss Ndiwa revealed that Maigo's body had 10 stab wounds to the chest and the others to his sides.

Police launched investigations into the matter but claimed that a woman, a female friend of the deceased who was reportedly with him at the time of his death is the prime suspect in the murder.

Ndiwa further noted that the woman might have escaped through the window after committing the murder to avoid arrest by police who arrived at the scene.

“We are still on the case, but the neighbours said they heard him groaning in pain and the woman who was in the house refused to open the door but had escaped when police arrived,” Ndiwa told the Nation.

The Kilimani police boss further revealed that police are presently pursuing the unidentified woman while investigating the case.

Nairobi Hospital's Chief Executive Officer James Nyamongo had earlier issued a memo to staff informing them of their colleague's passing.

"This morning we received the shocking news of the death of our staff member, Mr Eric Maigo, who was our Ag. Director of Finance. Unconfirmed reports we have at the moment are that Eric's lifeless body was found by neighbours at his house at 6 a.m. this morning," Nyamongo stated.

Nyamongo added that the family had been informed of the incident and the police had taken over the scene and were conducting investigations.

The CEO paid tribute to Maigo as a member who gave his best for the success of Nairobi Hospital.

"He was a dedicated member of staff who gave his best for the success of Nairobi Hospital. Let us all keep his family in our prayers as they go through this difficult time," he added.

A look at his LinkedIn profile by Viral Tea revealed that Maigo, aged 40, worked as a Group Financial Reporting Accountant at Old Mutual Kenya between 2008 and 2017.

He then moved to Britam General Insurance where he worked for six years from 2017 in multiple roles, as both the Assistant Manager, Budgets and Reporting and the Lead in Financial Reporting and Credit Control.
