"22 passengers, many of them students have sustained injuries when a matatu they were travelling in collided head-on with a van at Karai area near Keroche along the Nrb-Nkr Highway.

"The casualties received on-site First Aid and were taken to Naivasha Referral Hospital," stated the ambulance's report.

Images seen by Viral Tea showed the Noah severely damaged at the front, indicating how heavily impacted it was by the crash with pieces of debris strewn all over the accident scene.

A closer look showed the airbags being deployed on the driver's seat with the seats propelled forward following the impact.

As for the matatu, the only photo showed the matatu's rear side and the body intact, with the impact at the front not yet established.

It was also unclear the circumstances that led to the accident, the second one involving students to have occurred in a day along the same highway.

On Tuesday, January 9, 8 people were injured in an accident at Nyambari, Lari area along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. Among the injured were also students who were travelling in a matatu which collided with a lorry.

Two people were critically injured, while others survived with minor injuries and were rushed to various hospitals in the area.

The hospitals which included St. Peter's Orthopedic Hospital, Lari Level 4 Hospital and Kijabe Mission Hospital attended to the casualties.

On the same day, a horrific accident occurred involving a bus coming from Congo and a matatu which led to the deaths of 15 people.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) thereafter launched a manhunt for the bus driver as it attributed the cause of the crash to lane indiscipline and dangerous overtaking on the bus driver's part as the cause of the deadly crash which occurred at around 2:45 am at the Twin Bridge area.
