Police have launched investigations into the alleged murder of a seven-year-old male pupil schooling at one of the schools in Kisii County.

The body was discovered by school children below a raised pulpit of the church at one end of the play ground while in school uniform on Friday, August 26.

It is said that he had a cut on the throat and a string ribbon around its neck.

According to his mother, the minor left for school from Bomwagi sub-location Birongo ward in the morning after he took breakfast.

The mother of the deceased indicated that his son usually goes to school at that time.

Keumbu assistant chief Onchungu said that he heard people screaming and rushed to the school to find out what had transpired.

He noted that reaching on the scene of crime he found that the body of the minor had a cut on the throat and a string ribbon around its neck.

According to the head teacher of the school, Florence Aori, the minor did not report to the class.

Area residents have called for more security in that area and said that they are fearing over the lives of their children.

The residents added that if no action will be taken, they will not allow their children to go to school.

They called upon police officers to speed up their investigations and arrest the suspect.

 The body of the deceased was moved to Kisii Teaching Referral Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
