The former lawmaker revealed in a statement that Lucy passed away on Tuesday morning, January 30 at Nairobi Hospital.

Former Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya has announced the unfortunate death of his wife, Lucy Kimunya.

The former lawmaker revealed in a statement that Lucy passed away on Tuesday morning, January 30 at Nairobi Hospital.

"It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that I wish to announce that this Tuesday morning at 3:00 am my dear wife Lucy went to be with the Lord while receiving care at Nairobi Hospital," he stated.

Kimunya however did not reveal her ailment or how long she had been hospitalised. Nonetheless, he praised her for being pivotal in shaping his political life.

"She was a key pillar in both my personal and political life, she contributed immensely to making our society greener through various initiatives and supporters of the youth and women," he added.

Kimunya explained that further details on her sendoff would be communicated in due course. He concluded, "Go well our dear Lucy, we will miss you dearly."

Kimunya has always credited his decorated career to the support he received from his departed wife.

He was also formerly the majority leader in the National Assembly having replaced Aden Duale after falling out with Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Apart from being an MP, he also served in various positions in the cabinet. He worked as Minister of Trade, Minister of Finance and Minister of Lands and Settlement.

From 1986 to 1993, he worked for a private firm named Care Stanyer Gitau and Company as a CPA and quickly rose to senior manager.

Later, he founded Finmans consultancy in Nairobi and in 1997 the company merged with Matrix to form Matrix Development Consultants. He was a director and consultant for the company from 1998 until 2003.

Following the historic win of the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) in 2002, he was appointed Minister of Lands and Settlement by the late former president Mwai Kibaki.

This was after he had been elected Member of Parliament for the Kipipiri constituency.
