Silas Jakakimba, a former aide of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has parted ways with his wife, Florence Adhiambo.

In a joint announcement on Thursday, July 17, the couple revealed that they had mutually agreed to end their marriage, emphasising that the decision was made with mutual respect.

“After careful consideration and much reflection, we, Silas Jakakimba and Florence Adhiambo, have made the difficult but certain and oftentimes extremely considerate decision to separate.

“This decision was reached mutually and, with respect for one another, noting with deep appreciation and gratitude, the immense love and support from both sides of our Innermost Families and Spiritual Leaders as we sought to make this decision public,” read part of the statement.

Jakakimba and Adhiambo affirmed their dedication to protecting their family’s privacy and welfare during this period of transition.

They also appealed to the public to respect their privacy, stating that they do not intend to issue any further comments regarding their separation.

“We ask that our privacy be respected as we navigate this personal matter. We will not be making any further public statements whatsoever regarding this matter at this or at any other time - and we do appreciate your understanding,” the statement concluded.

Jakakimba and Adhiambo got married on October 16, 2021, in a vibrant ceremony hosted at Nairobi’s Safari Park Hotel.

The high-profile event drew several notable guests, including lawyer Donald Kipkorir, Lang’ata MP Phelix Jalang'o and his wife Amina Chao, Ugandan artist Bobi Wine, Babu Owino, Akothee, Ken Mijungu, Trevor Ombija, and Milly Odhiambo, among others.

On October 16, 2022, the couple marked their first wedding anniversary. Marking their special day, Jakakimba made sure to appreciate Florence in the most thoughtful way.

He shared a wedding photo alongside a heartfelt message to celebrate both his wife and their anniversary. Additionally, he invited Florence to choose any destination she wished, promising to fly her there as part of her anniversary gift.

Jakakimba formally joined President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance party (UDA) on March 26, 2024, after defecting from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Before his defection, Jakakimba had also resigned as the legal adviser to Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga in July 2023, just nine months into the position.

He was also provoked to resign from the post in March 2023 by insults from Raila's daughter, Winnie Odinga.
