The body of an unidentified man has been discovered along the Kitengela/Athi River Interchange, Mombasa Road, throwing residents of the area into panic.

The man, whose identity is yet to be revealed, was found by bodaboda operators near the river’s culvert on Monday, February 3.

As per images seen by Viral Tea, the man was discovered shirtless with his legs appearing to have been tied with a piece of cloth.

There were also visible injuries to the neck while the legs had been tied - an indication that he could have been killed.

"People mill around a scene where an unidentified body of a man has been discovered on the river's culvert. The victim's leg appears tied to a cloth and his body has no shirt," Shaban stated.

Witnesses suggest that the body was recently dumped by the riverbed, as locals believe it would have been swept away if it had been there for an extended period.

Some of the boda boda riders in the area claimed that the body may have been dumped during the day as they did not come across it during the morning hours.

Confirming the discovery, human rights activist and social justice advocate Hussein Khalid revealed that "The body is of a male, roughly around 30 years of age. It has a cut on the leg, and it appears as though the legs were tied together."

Officers from the National Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrived at the scene soon after. The body has since been transferred to the morgue, as investigations to establish the man's identity commence.

“At this point in time, we are very disappointed, it appears as if the whole country is a dumping site for bodies. The whole country is a crime scene because we are picking bodies not just from rivers but also roads,” Khalid added.

Notably, the discovery of the body comes at a time when Kenyans have raised concerns over rising cases of abductions. These incidents have even caught the attention of senior government officials including Public Service CS Justin Muturi, whose son was abducted in 2024.

"This is a very serious matter and it should actually take the anger of this country because why are we allowing young men and girls to be kidnapped? Only later to be found killed," the CS lamented.

Meanwhile, uncertainty continues to grip two families regarding the whereabouts of their kin, who are now commonly referred to as part of the 'Mlolongo Four'.

On Thursday, January 31, two missing Mlolongo men were found in Nairobi Funeral Home, formerly City Mortuary. The two were Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, appeared before Justice Chacha Mwita and denied having custody of the four. The court had summoned the two police officials to personally clarify the men's whereabouts.

Shortly after they denied holding them, Mutumwa's family reported discovering his body at Nairobi Funeral Home (formerly City Mortuary).

This development raised concerns from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), with its president, Faith Odhiambo, demanding that Kanja and Amin explain who was responsible for the abductions and killings of Kenyans.
