Gatanga Member of Parliament (MP) Edward Muriu on Sunday, June 18 maintained that Labour Cabinet Secretary (CS) Florence Bore had broken into a contested mansion in Karen valued, by the owner, at Ksh120 million, despite assertions that she did not forcefully occupy it.

Speaking to the media, the lawmaker claimed that he had one-way access to the mansion and accused the CS of occupying the house against the confines of the law.

Muriu further revealed that he escalated the matter with President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua for purposes of mediation, threatening to evict her from the premises by Tuesday, June 20.

“I have keys to the main door, kitchen and balcony. How did she gain access? It means that she broke into the house," the MP claimed.

The MP spoke hours after the CS accused the legislator of shortchanging her and evicting her family from the premises by force.

Bore in her statement claimed that she paid 10 per cent of the agreed price, and was allowed to clear the rest of the amount in 90 days.

"In compliance with the respective clauses of the agreement, I sourced a 10 per cent deposit from my Sacco and paid directly to the Vendor's lawyers' account via RTGS. It was a term in the agreement for sale that the completion period of the transaction was 90 days from the date of signing the agreement," she stated in part.

Muriu, in his rejoinder, claimed that he was yet to receive any payment and no sale agreement was struck between the two.

As a result, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) elected MP challenged the CS to make public details of the agreement between the parties, including proof that she made any payments for the house and issued a receipt.

“If she (Bore) claims that she bought the house, she should show a sales agreement signed by everyone,” Muriu insisted.

“She should show that she paid for everything before occupying the house,” he insisted, adding that Bore was asked to vacate by June 20 should she not honour the demands.

The MP also accused the Labour CS of using security officers to intimidate him. Muriu had earlier put speculation to rest and publicised Bore's identity on Twitter, adding that over 100 police officers who were sent assaulted his workers as the CS occupied the mansion.

“For (the) record, The CS who illegally broke into and occupied our Family House, in Amara Ridge, Karen, sent a contingent of over 100 police officers who brutally assaulted my workers is none other than CS Florence Chepngetich Bore. CS Labour and Social Protection.” the lawmaker alleged.

The whole saga began on Friday, June 16, after a contingent of police officers moved in and confronted Peter Kariuki, a contractor hired by the MP to carry out repairs at the house.
