Details of the alleged ceremony as reported by Nairobi News quickly spread on social media and some even congratulated the Vanity singer for finally winning over the heart of the First Daughter.

The buzz surrounding the two regarding their potential union saw Charlene Ruto and Daddy Owen becoming part of the top trends on X for the better part of the day, with the latter trending top by the time of publishing this story.

Efforts to obtain clarification from Daddy Owen by Viral Tea were however unsuccessful and neither he nor Charlene were yet to confirm nor deny the reports.

However, Daddy Owen did make what he termed a significant announcement; the upcoming release of his new song.

The artist has declared that the song 'Follow' will drop on January 1, 2024 at 1:43 AM, an unexpected release time that has stoked the curiosity of his fans.

The award-winning gospel singer, with a career spanning years and at least 28 awards under his belt, remains a prominent figure in the music industry. Known for his Kapungala style, Daddy Owen has produced numerous certified hits in Kenya and Africa.

Nairobi News reported that the alleged introduction ceremony reportedly took place in Eshifiru village within Kakamega county, where Charlene had the opportunity to meet Daddy Owen's mother, Margaret Mwatia.

The pair have been involved in several charity events in recent weeks. In true Christmas spirit, they recently boarded several matatus in Nairobi and gave out shopping vouchers.

Charlene wore a buibui, hijab and shades to disguise herself as one of the passengers in the matatu and disclosed that she learned a lot about Kenyans during the matatu rides.

"Most people were going to work while others were going for different hustles. I am so excited. At first, I was seated with Daddy Owen but now I am going to sit at the back,” she said in one of the videos.

Daddy Owen addresses his relationship with Charlene

In November this year, Owen and Charlene were pictured at a basketball match leading to speculation that they are an item.

However, in an interview with Milele FM, the singer clarified that they are good friends and are working on several projects together.

“Ah, what’s all this about? Bro, you know there are some things that shouldn’t be talked about. Some are serious, man… Let’s not go there. You’re my brother; I wouldn’t want to put you in a tough spot,” Daddy Owen answered.

“No, it’s just work. Apart from being friends, we have many projects we’re working on together… It’s not necessary that every time you see me with someone, they have to be more than a friend,” he explained.
