The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the partial closure of five roundabouts along Uhuru Highway for five days.

In a notice on Wednesday, December 27, the authority announced that the temporary closure will begin on Thursday, December 28 running into the new year, January 1, 2024.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the Public that there will be temporary partial closure at five (5) roundabouts along Uhuru Highway (A8).

"These roundabouts are Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue and University Way," the statement read in part.

This closure will commence from December 28, 2023, to January 1, 2024, both days inclusive and will be to allow for highway maintenance works along these sections.

Motorists using this road have been advised to approach the affected sections with caution as some lanes will be closed and traffic subjected to shared lanes.

"Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Traffic Marshalls and Police on site," added the statement.

KeNHA has issued a series of notices regarding various temporary closures on sections of roads in Nairobi with some to be opened on December 31, and others in January 2024.

For instance, a section of Mombasa Road was closed for six days, from December 25 to Sunday, December 31.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the Public that there will be closure of a section of the Mombasa bound carriageway at Imaara Mall (Tuff Steel) Junction along Mombasa Road (A8) Highway.

"The closure will commence on Monday 25th December 2023 at 9.00 pm to Sunday 31st December 2023 at 4.00 am," KeNHA announced on Sunday, December 24.

At the Nairobi Southern Bypass, both bounds between Lang'ata interchange and Ngong interchange are also temporarily closed until January 23, 2024.

In a notice on Wednesday, December 27, the authority revealed that the closure would allow for the installation of a virtual weighbridge.
