A video went viral on Saturday morning, February 17 depicting a scenario of a young woman who was recorded being dragged out of a Mercedes Benz C-class vehicle by a man in broad daylight.

The video seen by Viral Tea showed the man donning a white shirt and black pants which he sagged to reveal his boxers forcing the woman out of the car which had stopped by the roadside.

The man appeared to take a short glance at the light-skinned woman who was wearing a short black skirt and a black top before pushing her to the pavement and getting into the co-driver seat, leaving the woman struggling to recollect herself.

Meanwhile, an unidentified man stood by and watched the events unfold, unfazed by the man's actions in assaulting the woman and at one point held the car's door open before closing the door of the passenger seat.

Here is the video:

The man also stood helpless as he watched the woman sporting braids struggle to get up as the vehicle drove away, staring in disbelief regarding what had happened to her.

Another gentleman is seen appearing from the corner, rushing over to check on the woman who is now groaning by the roadside. Meanwhile, a female voice from behind the camera asks, "Huyu jamaa shida yake ni nini? (What is the guy's problem?)"

The video found its way on social media platforms including X with Kenyans online wondering what the man's motive was in kicking the woman out of the sleek German vehicle.

"Can't he drop her off at her home? Why are people so cruel? Anyway, let us respect ourselves. If you have your stuff going on you can't be treated like this."

"No justification for such," some comments read online.

However, others threw their support behind the man saying they needed to hear both sides of the story before passing any judgement, amidst claims that there may have been a heated altercation between the two before the incident was captured on camera.

"It’s a grey area. Ideally, he’d have left her in a safe place but it also seems she has a part to play. Seems she had refused to exit the car," another user suggested online.

Activist Wanjeri Nderu said, "Many years ago, a man I knew was thrown out of a car on Thika Rd. He was robbed and raped by homeless men who lived under the bridge near roasters. Reading some of the comments justifying this inhuman behaviour breaks my heart. Sickening!"

Another user narrated how he narrowly landed in trouble with the law for attempting to rescue a stranded female stranger.

"I offered (a lady) a lift from Bomas to town. She said she had ordered a taxi but her phone went off. Upon arrival at Moi Avenue where she was supposed to go, she demanded I pay her or she would shout that I had 'sexually assaulted' her," he claimed.

"I was headed to Muthaiga Police Station. So I locked the doors and told her that we would have a conversation with the Subaru boys next door. She started begging for me to let her out but for learning purposes I let her do some chitchat with the cops until the time I’ll make up my mind."

Through the labyrinth of comments, other people said that this was a wake-up call to parents of daughters, citing it as an example to train your girls early in life to avoid such incidents.

By the time of publishing this article, the police had yet to issue a statement on the matter, which comes at the height of campaigns conducted against rising femicide and gender-based violence cases in the country.

Different stakeholders had clamoured for the safety of women in the country while couples were advised on how to solve their cases amicably.
