Govt Announces Internships Month After Freezing Job Hirings; How To Apply
The applicants will be the seventh cohort to acquire internship positions with the government since the program was started in 2019.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday, August 13 called on all university students who graduated from the year 2018 to apply for internship positions to be placed across different government agencies, departments and ministries.

“The Public Service Commission (PSC) is pleased to announce the recruitment of interns (Cohort 7) under the PSIP for the Financial Year 2024/2025,” PSC announced in a job advertisement.

The Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) is a Government youth empowerment programme whose main objective is to offer college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills in order to enhance their chances for employment, networking and entrepreneurship.
It aims to bridge the gap between education and the workplace for graduates.
Qualifications
For graduates seeking the internship for the year 2024/25, PSC stated that they must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university;
“The candidate must have graduated not earlier than the year 2018; and beproficient in computer skills,” PSC went on.
Duties
Those who qualify for the internship will be mandated to complete duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by the supervisors, as well as document relevant skills acquired in their areas of deployment.
Additionally, the interns will actively participate in any relevant mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the programme.
Duration, Stipend & Certificate
The internship will run for a period of 12 months on a non-renewable contract.
Further, PSC noted that the interns will be paid a stipend at a rate as determined by the Government. However, since its inception, the programme has provided a monthly stipend of Ksh25,000 to over 25,200 interns across multiple cohorts
On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate.
How To Apply
“Interested and qualified graduates are requested to make their applications through the Commission's job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by September 2, 2024,” the Commission said.
On July 4, the Commission announced a suspension of all public service recruitment, a move that threatened to worsen the unemployment crisis in the country.
Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria wrote to the PSC at the time directing the suspension of new and ongoing staff hiring, including ongoing interviews, due to anticipated budget cuts.
