Elizabeth Munyalo, the wife of Denis Musyoka, who set himself on fire inside a car at Nasra estate in Nairobi, on Sunday, August 21, has revealed that he had a history of violence.

Musyoka, 34, was found dead by police officers who had visited the scene following the incident.

Their 2-year-old daughter succumbed to injuries sustained from the fire, while Munyalo survived with multiple cuts on her neck after the deceased attacked her.

She revealed that the domestic issues began as far as a year ago, leading to the disintegration of their relationship.

Musyoka had threatened her several times to allow him to see their daughter, to which she eventually agreed.

However, Munyalo was met with hostility when she was going to pick up their daughter.

"We had underlying domestic issues from last year and decided to end our relationship. After I moved out, he ordered that I give him back the baby," Munyalo told the media.

"After so many threats, I decided to allow him to see the baby. He was angry after I informed him that I was not available on Saturday when my daughter was celebrating her birthday. So when I took the baby on Sunday, he told me that he was going to kill all of us including the baby," she added.

CCTV footage that showed Musyoka's last moments showed him wrestling with his wife who was trying to escape from the car. As the altercation went on, Musyoka drew a kitchen knife and stabbed Munyalo several times.

She however managed to break free from the visibly agitated man to call for help as he locked their daughter inside the vehicle and set it on fire.

Well-wishers who were alerted by Munyalo managed to pull out the girl from the vehicle which was engulfed in flames.

The kid died while being rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital. Her father, who remained in the vehicle, succumbed to severe burns.

Musyoka's body was moved to Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary. Munyalo is recuperating and is in stable condition as police recovered a knife and a jerry can containing petrol at the scene of the crime.
