A man in Njiru sub-county, Nairobi had convinced his ex-wife to bring her daughter for a reunion, only to stab her and set the car carrying her on fire before he died.

Denis Musyoka, 34, was found dead on Sunday, August 21 by police officers who had visited the scene following the incident.

His ex-wife, Elizabeth Munyalo, had escaped from the vehicle they were in, a Honda Vezel after Musyoka had attacked her with a knife.

He immediately removed the knife from the bag and stabbed her four times on the left part of the neck. The lady managed to jump out of the vehicle and was rescued by good Samaritans.

The deceased then set himself on fire in the vehicle together with her daughter, 2.5 yrs. When officers arrived at the scene, they pronounced Musyoka dead.

They found a knife and a partly burnt five-litre jerrican suspected to have contained petrol that he had allegedly used to set the motor vehicle on fire.

Munyalo was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition. The girl was taken to the same hospital but was later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) “in critical condition”.

Musyoka’s body was taken to the Mama Lucy Hospital morgue.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kayole sub-county alleged that the couple had separated for some time over domestic issues.
