Ruto To Meet Biden
Ruto was previously in the United Kingdom (UK) to attend the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II, lauded by many for its colourful show in line with ancient kingdom traditions. He landed in New York on Tuesday, September 20.
After the UNGA assembly, Ruto will be expected to meet US President Joe Biden for bilateral talks. Biden had on Tuesday night put out a tweet praising the bottom-up economic model over the trickle-down economic model used by previous regimes, which he said does not work in the current American setting.
"I am sick and tired of trickle-down economics. It has never worked. We're building an economy from the bottom up and middle out," Biden wrote, sending wild reactions from Kenyans who resonated with the model, which has been the backbone of Ruto's presidential campaign.
This year’s UNGA theme is “A watershed moment: Transformative solutions to interlocking challenges.”
Global crises like the Russia-Ukrain war, climate change, global energy crises, and the Covid-19 pandemic are major issues that would be discussed.
