A huge fire is reported to have broken out at Tassia Estate in Embakasi East, Nairobi, having begun on Saturday night, March 1.
Real-time reports reaching Viral Tea indicate that the fire broke out next to a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church, with many people feared trapped.
Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino, who confirmed the fire outbreak, lamented that those affected by the incident risk spending the night without a roof over their heads after the inferno razed several homes.
"Pray for us as Fire is currently razing down houses at Tassia, Embakasi East. Property worth millions destroyed, children, men and women left homeless, forced to spend the night in the cold. What a sad night in Embakasi East," he wrote on his social media handles.

Photos and videos seen by Viral Tea showed the massive inferno lighting the night sky while bringing about destruction in its wake, with residents left to watch helplessly as the fire reduced the property to ash.
One netizen reported on X that "The first firefighter to arrive at the fire scene in Tassia showed up without water. Bro thought he was there for moral support."
Local authorities are also said to be at the scene working to contain the fire as well as providing support to area residents. The cause of the fire outbreak, by the time of going to press, remains unknown.
This is the second fire outbreak in Nairobi in just 24 hours. Another massive inferno broke out at a section of the Nairobi National Park on Friday, February 28. The park was, however, revealed to be grappling with multiple wildfires as emergency teams strive to control blazes across six protected areas, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) reported on Saturday, March 1.
Providing an update on the situation, KWS linked the fires to the extended dry season, which has heightened the likelihood of additional outbreaks.
KWS reported that two wildfires broke out in Nairobi National Park on Thursday. The first, near Wilson Airport along the Southern Bypass, was quickly brought under control with the help of Nairobi County authorities. However, a second fire in the Athi Basin Dam area, which was reported on Friday evening, was still burning.
“Firefighters, including KWS personnel, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), volunteers, and county emergency teams, are battling to bring it under control,” said KWS on Saturday morning.
