Former Citizen TV anchor, Jacque Maribe has landed a job in President William Ruto's government, a month after she was acquitted in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

Media reports indicated that Maribe was picked as the Head of Communications in the Ministry of Public Service, which is headed by Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria.

A media invite sent to Viral Tea revealed that Maribe was already appointed to the communications docket ahead of the launch of the Moses Kuria Cup tournament in Meru on Saturday, March 9.

Digital strategist, Dennis Itumbi, became the first prominent figure to congratulate Maribe on her new appointment, which was not immediately announced by Kuria on his social media platforms.

"Congratulations  Jacque Maribe - May God bless you as you serve

"Asante CS Moses Kuria for standing with a Generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand," he wrote on his pages.

She will be expected to provide comprehensive communication strategies aligned with the objectives of the Ministry of Public Service.

Maribe has had a zig-zag career with ups and downs aplenty. In September 2022, rumours went rife that she had been appointed as the Director of Communication in the office of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Maribe had denied reports that she was appointed to Gachagua's office, even after she received congratulatory messages from colleagues, friends, and fans, whom she thanked for believing in her.

"I am not the Director of Communications at the Deputy President's Office. Thank you all for the well wishes, calls, and text messages. Mambo ya God," Maribe wrote on her Instagram stories.

She's not new to media circles, however. The former prime-time TV journalist had once worked as part of former Safina Party presidential candidate Jimi Wanjigi's secretariat, meaning she has experience managing the communications of politicians.

Maribe's flourishing career on TV was however turned upside down after she was implicated in the murder of businesswoman Kimani, and her career had never aligned back to her expectations. However, her acquittal offered some semblance of hope in reviving it.

Born Jacque Wanjiru Maribe on December 18, 1989, Maribe hails from Murang'a County, Kenya. Raised in a middle-class family, she exhibited a passion for storytelling and communication from a young age.

Maribe pursued her education at a local high school before enrolling at the University of Nairobi, where she pursued a degree in journalism and media studies.

Her career in the media industry began to flourish during her university years. She honed her skills as a journalist through internships and freelance opportunities, eventually catching the eye of industry insiders.

In 2009, Maribe landed a coveted position as a news anchor at Citizen TV, one of Kenya's leading television networks.

Her captivating presence on screen and sharp reporting style quickly made her a household name.

Maribe left the station in 2019 after she was arrested in connection to the Monica Kimani case.
