The renowned reggae emcee revealed through his social media handles that his left lung collapsed due to tuberculosis (TB). Other than affecting his day-to-day activities, he added that the disease also affected his ability to speak.
"This one is gone literally, my left lung has totally collapsed leaving me with one lung remaining, in 2021 I was diagnosed with TB in my lungs which resulted in complete lung failure, and in 2022 I was also diagnosed with TB in my throat, which has caused problems with my voice, running, walking, and speaking," he wrote in part.
MC Fullstop further explained that the lungs could not regenerate, unlike other organs such as the liver. This meant that his condition was irreversible and that he would have to retire from the entertainment industry.
"Lungs, unlike the liver, cannot regenerate. The lungs do not have the same capability, and I will have to adjust to the situation, and I see myself hanging boots. I want to thank those that have supported me in these difficult times God bless you," he went on.
MC Fullstop was a well-known Kenyan reggae hype man with a career in entertainment dating back to the 1990s.
He was once a key figure on K24 TV’s Supremacy Sound show, a widely followed dancehall reggae program that aired every Saturday at noon.
In addition to that, he hosted Riddim Vybz on K24. Prior to his stint at the station, he held roles at Kiss FM and Citizen TV.
He later moved to NRG Radio, where he teamed up with DJ Smash for the Saturday slot.
