Lawyer Miguna Miguna has announced that President William Ruto's government has lifted the red alerts issued against him.

Taking to social media on Wednesday, October 12, Miguna stated that the red alerts that were imposed against him by former President Uhuru Kenyatta have been lifted, meaning he can travel back to Kenya.

He reiterated that he will land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on the morning of Thursday, October 20.

"The Government of President William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua has lifted the Red Alerts Uhuru Kenyatta and his goons illegally imposed against me with the connivance of Raila Odinga. My Arrival: October 20 at 6 AM. The Rule of Law, fearlessness, persistence and focus have prevailed," he wrote.

This now ends a five-year wait for the red alerts against him to be lifted after he was forcefully deported to Canada in March 2018.

The lawyer had initially announced on Tuesday, September 13 that the alerts would be lifted the following day, but it never materialised.

On Thursday, September 22, Miguna announced that he will leave for Kenya on Monday, October 24 from Toronto, Canada, where he has been spending five years in exile.

The trip between Kenya and Canada which takes almost a day will see him land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on the night of October 25. However, public demand forced him to move up his return date by five days, which will happen to be President Ruto's first Mashujaa Day since taking power.

Miguna also has a new passport that was issued to him by President Ruto after his old one was destroyed.

He had earlier demanded outgoing Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and his Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, Ksh7 million that he was awarded as damages by the Kenyan Court.

He further directed them to reach out to his lawyer over the payments and gave them an ultimatum.

"To Fred Matiang'i, Karanja Kibicho and Major General Gordon Kihalangwa: You are hereby directed to contact my advocate, Adrian Kamotho Njenga, and sort out the damages and costs the High Court and Court of Appeal awarded me in the various cases I won since 2018. Do so promptly before I land," announced Miguna.

He also called for the Red Alerts issued against him to be redirected to Matiang'i and Kibicho, claiming that the duo committed criminal offences against Kenyans.
