Exiled lawyer, Miguna Miguna is now a red alert away from returning to Kenya.

Taking to his social media handles on Tuesday, September 20, Miguna, who also holds a Canadian citizenship, expressed that he has received a new passport after his old one was destroyed.

He praised President William Ruto for delivering to him the new passport which comes five years since his dramatic deportation to Canada.

In addition, he shared that he did not have to deal with paperwork to have his passport renewed as ordered by the state through outgoing Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, who served in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

"1,687 days after Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Fred Matiang'i, Karanja Kibicho and Gordon Kihalangwa conspired to illegally seize and destroyed my Kenyan passport, President William Ruto has had a new one delivered to me. Waiting for the lifting of red alerts.

"I didn't have to sign the silly forms they were speaking about,” he wrote.

Miguna on Wednesday, September 14 stated that he was yet to receive confirmation that the red alerts preventing his return to Kenya were lifted. According to him, they are still active, meaning he cannot board a return flight to Kenya.

He was responding to numerous questions by Kenyans seeking to find out when he would be coming back to Kenya, but he did promise that he would issue updates on the matter.

"Fellow Kenyans, please go easy on your trolling habits.

"To answer your incessant questions, I have not received confirmation that President William Ruto has lifted the red alerts Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga imposed against me. I'll update you if I do,” he stated.

Miguna's statement did not match the one he issued on Tuesday, September 13 after the swearing-in of President William Ruto where the Head of State was to assure him that the red alerts would be lifted the following day.

"I'm happy to announce that President William Ruto has assured me that the red alerts will be lifted on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

"Thereafter, I will have my Kenyan Passport renewed and I'll announce the date of my return to my motherland," Miguna stated.

Miguna had offered hope to his followers about his return to the country from exile but stated that three conditions must be met before he even books a return flight to Kenya.

First, William Ruto must be sworn in as Kenya's fifth president before he reenters the Kenyan territory, which took place on Tuesday, September 13.

Second and third, the red alerts against him must be lifted and his Kenyan passport renewed, which has since been done- indicating that he had packed his bags in readiness for the journey which takes approximately 15 hours.
