Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to track him down to his homes and arrest him in case he is found culpable of any crimes.

While speaking at his Karen residence on Monday, May 19, Gachagua hit out at events whereby DCI officers reportedly pitched camp outside his homes in Nairobi and Nyeri Counties.

According to the former second-in-command, the barricading of roads amidst reported attempts to arrest him was a plot to ambush him, given that he had come from a church service in Murang'a County on Sunday, May 18.

"The drama of waylaying us on roads should be stopped. If the government knows that I've committed a crime, as defined under the laws of Kenya, and identified in the Penal Code, they know all my homes.

"I'm here, they know my Wamunyoro home. They don't need to waylay me on the road. Let them just come here, and if I've committed a crime, they can come and arrest me," he dared.

At the same time, Gachagua emerged with explosive claims of a murder plot against him, with state-sponsored officers given specific instructions to take him out. He revealed that he was made aware of alleged instructions from the President to 'deal with him' once and for all.

The former deputy claimed that efforts to silence him using state-backed thugs failed on Sunday, leading to police stepping in to stop what he described as a plot against his life. "Since the goons sponsored by the state on several occasions had failed, police and other state security agencies had to come in," he added.

Gachagua also claimed that the government wanted to poison him using biological means on Sunday, when the contingent of officers chasing him had barricaded his home.

"After about 30 minutes, the killer squad was joined by their counterparts, who were highly trained in the use of biological weapons.

"Their instructions were to poison me through inhaled chemicals that would paralyse my brain within three months. This was the intent and the purpose of the whole operation," Gachagua added.

Furthermore, Gachagua alleged that on Sunday afternoon, he was tipped off by police officers who claimed they’d been ordered to plant weapons in his convoy as a setup to justify his arrest.

"We received further intelligence from the deployed patriotic officers who were not in agreement with the evil mission, that they had clear instructions to plant arms and weapons in our convoy to provide evidence to arrest us and get evidence that they could charge us with in court," he added.

Gachagua's lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, took to X on Sunday, May 18, to notify major media houses that the DCI, alongside multiple security agencies, reportedly took control of the Karen and Wamunyoro residences.

The matter attracted the attention of Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, who urged President William Ruto to arrest Gachagua in adherence to the law...if he wanted to do so.

Photos that went viral on social media and seen by Viral Tea showed Subaru Forester vehicles and a police vehicle barricading a road amidst the reported intent to arrest the second in command.

Recently, Gachagua warned that if President Ruto's government tries to rig the 2027 elections, it could throw the country into turmoil.

"With the mood in the country, if that IEBC tries to mess with the elections, there will be no country here, I want to tell you that 2007 will look like a Christmas party," the former DP claimed during an interview with Obinna TV.

"I want to tell those commissioners to be Kenyans and to be patriotic, and not to attempt to force William Ruto on the people of Kenya. It will not work. The people of Kenya will not accept it, people want change, and they are ready for change."

Gachagua would later clarify that he was only voicing what he heard on the ground, denying claims that he was inciting Kenyans to unrest.
