An online gaming firm on Thursday, June 29 announced a Ksh37 million partnership with the Kenya Rugby Union.

From the partnership, Ksh15 million will go towards supporting the National Sevens Circuit that kicks off this weekend while Ksh22 million will go towards the senior Sevens National Team, Shujaa.

Dala Sevens to be hosted this weekend in Kisumu will kickstart the national series that will be played over six legs in various towns across the country.

Speaking during the announcement of the sponsorship, Kasarani Member of Parliament (MP) Ronald Karauri vowed to support rugby as they believed in the potential of the game.

‘We are with KRU to stay and I want to say that even for business we feel we are operating in a friendlier environment. Therefore, we can talk about long-term plans.

"This is a partnership that will not be for one year or two years but for our company to be permanently on the shirt of Shujaa and for the national 7s circuit to be supported throughout,’ said Karauri.

From the sponsorship, the overall winner of the circuit will take home Ksh600,000, the first runner-up Ksh300,000, and the second runner-up will receive Ksh150,000.

The winner of each circuit will receive Ksh100,000 while the second-best team will get Ksh50,000 and the bronze medalists take home Ksh25,000. Ksh5 million will be given to the KRU to cover administration costs.

This is another gesture that shows the company’s goodwill towards supporting sports after they awarded Gor Mahia Ksh3 million for winning the 2022/23 FKF Premier League title.
