Kenya Airways (KQ) captain, Ruth Karauri congratulated her husband, Sportpesa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ronald Karauri for his win in the Kasarani Constituency parliamentary race announced on Thursday, August 11.

Just minutes after the announcement, Karauri, while addressing his supporters, thanked his family and the church for supporting him throughout his political journey coupled with a crazy schedule that kept him away from them.

The newly-elected Member of Parliament (MP) further noted that he made history in terms of the race to the August House.

"We’ve broken records, I am the first independent candidate to be elected in Nairobi. It is a new path for me I know why I came into this scene and I know I will do what I said I will do and I promise that we will work together," he said.

"Thank you to the people of Kasarani, and for the trust you have placed in me. I’m not a liar, everything I said I will do, I will deliver."

Captain Ruth then took to Twitter, writing "Thank you to the people of Kasarani for trusting him. I can assure you he will deliver on his promises!"

However, one curious fan by the Twitter username Mitpiny offered an interesting idea for her to celebrate his win.

He urged the captain of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to fly the aircraft at a low altitude over the Kasarani constituency and do a lap of honour before proceeding to London, United Kingdom (UK).

“Congrats but you need to do a lap of honour with that bird on your way to London. Pitia hapo Kasarani (pass over Kasarani) and fly low," he wrote.

According to global flight tracking platform Flightradar24, the first immediate Kenya Airways flight to London is set for 9.20 am on Friday, August 12, the only local airline departing to the British capital that day.

As for arrivals, however, a KQ flight departed London at 9.55 am on Thursday and owing to delays, it is set to land in Nairobi at 8.30 pm. At the time of publishing this story, live data shows it flying over Switzerland.

Captain Ruth in February this year went viral thanks to her brilliant landing skills in London with a video capturing her landing a KQ 100 plane in the middle of Storm Eunice. The UK's Met Department had issued two red weather warnings in as many months for strong winds, with a number of flights either being cancelled or planes rerouted to other destinations

Storm Eunice was the UK's recent cluster of winter wind storms with the British weatherman relating it to a strong polar vortex creating low pressure in the Arctic. The country faced record-breaking 122mph winds caused by the storm.

Her skills caught the attention of various leaders, both local and international who congratulated her and first officer Ayoob Harunany for their feats. She also pilots the Boeing 737, used for domestic flights and flights across Africa and some parts of the world.
