Dan Maanzo of Makueni and Kamau Murango of Kirinyaga have been ranked the best-performing Senators of 2024, according to recent data by Infotrak Research and Consulting.

Per the Elected Leaders Performance Index released on Wednesday, February 12, the duo amassed a joint score of 52 per cent, more than the other senators surveyed.

Joe Nyutu (Muranga) and Okiya Omtatah (Busia) both had a score of 50 per cent, sharing position three. Omtatah notably dropped to third, having been ranked the best Senator in 2023, owing to his frontline position in the Gen Z movement which had called for an overhaul of the leadership and structure in 2024.

John Methu (Nyandarua) and Richard Onyonka (Kisii) each scored 49 per cent, ranking fifth and sixth among the top 10 senators.

Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Godfrey Osotsi (Vihiga), Joseph Githuku (Lamu), Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Prof. Tom Ogienda (Kisumu), Karungo Thangwa (Kiambu), and Samson Cherargei (Nandi) all received scores ranging between 46 and 48 per cent.

Infotrak states that the rating was based on a survey carried out between November and December of the previous year.

The research firm explains that the data was derived from responses collected from residents across various constituencies and counties.

Other than Senators, Members of Parliament were ranked too, with Babu Owino and Ndindi Nyoro ranked as the best-performing in 2024. The Embakasi East MP scored 72 per cent while his Kiharu counterpart received a rating of 71 per cent.

Joseph Kalasinga (Kabuchai), Robert Mbui (Kathiani), John Waluke (Sirisia), Peter Salasya (Mumias East), and Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri) are among the top MPs of 2024.

Kalasinga and Mbui had a tie of 62 per cent, while Wamuchomba, Waluke, and Salasya all scored 61 per cent.

Erastus Nzioka (Mbooni) also had a score of 61 per cent. Danson Mwakuwona (Wundayi), John Bwire (Taveta), Caleb Amisi (Saboti), and Benson Mulu (Kitui Central) all had a score of 60 per cent.

Njeri Maina of Kirinyaga has remained the top-performing Women Representative.
