Outrage After Woman Claims She Stabbed Boyfriend 27 Times In Self-Defence
According to Nyabuto's father, the third born in a family of five met his tragic death at the hands of an estranged girlfriend

The family of Conrad Nyabuto, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend in Ruiru, Kiambu County, is seeking justice for the murder of their kin at the hands of the woman, identified as one Salome Wanjiru.
The family, living in Nairobi’s Saika Estate, claimed that despite glaring evidence linking the suspect to the killing, little is being done to have the suspect face the law, a matter delaying the delivery of justice.
According to Nyabuto's father, the third born in a family of five, met his tragic death at the hands of an estranged girlfriend, with the family claiming that the deceased died from excessive bleeding after being stabbed 27 times.
To make matters worse, the family flagged claims that Wanjiru had stabbed Nyabuto in self-defence.

“27 stab wounds is not self-defence. That is like you are killing a very dangerous wild animal, so we have been trying to cope, but it is not easy, as I have said,” the distraught father stated.
“There was reliable information that big people in the government were trying to interfere with the investigation. All we are praying for is that our late son will get justice for what happened. He will never come back, but at least the siblings, especially, will be a bit relieved when justice is served.”
Nyabuto had visited the girlfriend in Kamakis to sort out issues affecting their relationship. The late-night invitation would be the end of their love life and the start of a homicide investigation.
Self-defence is a countermeasure that involves defending the health and well-being of oneself from harm. The use of the right of self-defence as a legal justification for using force in times of danger is available in many jurisdictions.
In this case, however, the act was not as brutal as Nyabuto's murder, leading the family to suspect that there was foul play when the murder took place.
Moreover, the family revealed that Wanjiru had refused to respond to police officers who approached her door upon showing up at the crime scene shortly after. Police were said to have spent two hours trying to gain access to the door.
“The police came and asked her to open the door, but she refused to. They spent around two hours trying to break the metallic door and found that Conrad had bled to death. The girl was lying next to her, but she had slit her wrists,” his mother narrated.
The delayed entry into the house and the fact that she had also tried to take her own life not only impended any life-saving measures on Nyabuto but also made her the main suspect in the crime.
The murder case was reported at Gatongora Police Station in Ruiru on December 17, 2024. Wanjiru was taken into custody, though the family believes that not much is being done to hold her accountable for the murder.
The suspect is expected to take a plea on Thursday, January 16 at the Thika High Court. In early December 2024, a 28-year-old woman surrendered to police after she had allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death during an altercation in Mur-Ngiya sub-location, Siaya County, in what is a near-similar case to the current one.
Police revealed that the incident took place on Saturday night, December 7, when the woman, identified as Vivian Akoth, attacked and stabbed her 35-year-old boyfriend Charlton Obare over claims he cheated on her.
