Police on Thursday, March 30 foiled an attempt by unknown individuals to storm Kedong Ranch associated with former President Uhuru Kenyatta at the border of Narok East.

This was first reported by the Movement for Defense of Democracy (MDD), a youth wing affiliated with the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

"After the Northlands invasion on Monday, goons have been spotted in Kedong ' Ranch Narok County, Kenyatta Family is one of the shareholders. This is now too much!" MDD wrote.

Reports indicated that police on patrol in the area had spotted armed youth breaching the security fence in an attempt to trespass the ranch.

"We received reports that some members of the youth from the neighbouring community planned to invade the more than 75,000-acre expansive land and destroy property. We deployed anti-riot officers from 6 am," County Commissioner Isaac Masinde stated.

"Police thwarted the attempt by the youths to invade the land."

Tear gas canisters were lobbed to disperse the rowdy youths. No casualties were reported following the attempted raid on Kedong Ranch and police intervention.

By the time of publication, security agencies were yet to issue a statement on the attempted raid on Uhuru's ranch, coming merely three days after 2,000 unknown goons invaded the Kenyatta family's Northlands City farm in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

On Monday, March 27, the farm located along the Easter Bypass was raided by goons who looted rare sheep worth Ksh70 million and destroyed an unknown number of trees.

"In Ruiru within the periphery of Nairobi, mobs of about 2,000 criminals stormed private property belonging to the family of a retired President of Kenya where they vandalized the farm, stole livestock, set fires and attempted to construct makeshift houses ostensibly to occupy the land.

"A smaller gang attempted to storm a business in the Industrial Area of Nairobi which is associated with a former Prime Minister of Kenya, who is the principal leader of the current protests," stated Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki on March 29.

Additionally, a contingent of police officers was deployed to Uhuru's rural residence in Ichaweri, Kiambu County, on Thursday, March 30.

Gatundu South sub-county police commander, Jonathan Koech, confirmed that the officers pitched camp to beef up security at the Kenyatta residence. Three administration police officers armed with rifles and dressed in full combat were captured manning the main entrance, occasionally surveying the vicinity.

Notably, police also heightened security at Azimio principal Marth Karua's residence in Kimunye, Kirinyaga county.
