Popular Israeli-born American-Canadian televangelist Benny Hinn has revealed that First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto flew to the United States (US) state of Florida and extended an invitation to him to visit Kenya.

Speaking during a church service, Hinn revealed that after Rachel flew to Orlando, Florida, together with her team, she asked him if he could attend a crusade in Nairobi, over 20 years since his last visit.

The televangelist added that not only did the First Lady promise him that the crusade would be nationwide but also the government would pay for staging the crusade whose date would be communicated later.

Here is the video:

"Something amazing happened, the First Lady of Kenya flew from Nairobi to New York, just for one reason to ask me to come back to Nairobi for a national government-sponsored crusade," the pastor revealed.

Such was the magnitude of the invite that Pastor Hinn disclosed that Rachel's kind suggestion took him by surprise.

"We haven't had that in a long time for a First Lady of a nation to come and say we want to have a nation-sponsored crusade. The last time such happened it was in Papua," he added.

Hinn said Mama Rachel was accompanied by Ugandan preacher Robert Kayanja, as they wanted the crusades to be jointly held in Kenya and Uganda.

"They want to do two crusades for each country, I said, OK, Lord, you still have more time for me," he further said, without disclosing more details on the two events.

Pastor Benny Hinn is a notable televangelist, teacher, and the author of best-selling books including Good Morning and Holy Spirit

He is best known for his regular revival meetings and faith healing summits that are usually held in stadiums in major cities which are later broadcasted on his television programme.

First Lady Rachel Ruto is known to be a prayer warrior, known to hold national prayer sessions and regularly interacts with popular members of the clergy in Kenya and abroad.

The Rutos are not shy of publicly professing their Christian faith and it was one of the reasons many were drawn to them and voted him into office in 2022.

However, the news was criticised by Kenyans who criticised the First Lady for splurging millions of shillings to fly directly from Kenya to the US using public funds when she could have relied on Zoom which only needs an internet connection, nearly 20 times cheaper than the trip itself.

"The First Lady travels Business Class. The current KQ (Kenya Airways) Return ticket to and from JFK New York is 1.6 million shillings.

"Benny Hinn says she went with her team. Let's say 5pax. Ksh8 million on flights only minus hotels and per diem, just to invite Benny Hinn for a crusade when they could've done so on Zoom," bashed Gabriel Oguda.
