Stevo's wife, Grace Atieno, had recently pleaded for financial help alleging that the much-loved artist is struggling to make ends meet.

She also claimed that some unnamed persons took over the artiste’s social media handles for their personal gain.

“People always think that Stevo is the one using his Instagram and TikTok accounts, but it’s not him.

"Some people complain that if they want to send him something small, they cannot find him, this is because he is not the one managing the accounts. Anaumia sana (he is suffering) and this always hurts me,” Atieno said in an interview with YouTuber Vincent Mboya.

She further claimed that her husband’s management team took advantage of him, potentially contributing to his financial challenges.

Stevo's ex-girlfriend and socialite, Pritty Vishy thereafter weighed in on the matter and in a provocative statement on her Instagram stories, she declared, “Just a reminder, go for looks; even the ugly ones cheat.”

Stivo Simple Boy is known for his unique musical style and inspiring lyrics which have endured him to his fans. One of his popular songs, Vijana Tuache Mihadarati resonated well with his fans and propelled him to music stardom.

Commenting on the issue that highlighted the challenges Kenyan artists face behind the scenes, comedian Eric Omondi stated that something must be done to stop the government from taxing content creators.

“If Stivo is like this and you want to tax upcoming artists, we will have a lot of these posts in the next year. We have to do something if the Government won’t,” Omondi said.

Digital content creators were classified as professionals in the Finance Bill 2023, and following its assent to law by President William Ruto, they will be liable to pay five per cent tax.
