The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party on Wednesday, April 12 announced a competition for musicians in an effort to come up with the party's official anthem.

UDA Secretary-General, Cleophas Malala made the announcement while welcoming newly recruited members from the Kenyan entertainment industry to the party, who will assist in determining the best-composed song for the anthem.

The competition for the UDA party anthem is open to all musicians regardless of their political affiliations, with the winner set to walk away with a cash prize of Ksh2 million.

"This afternoon, while addressing the 4th Estate, newly recruited members from the Kenyan entertainment industry vowed to spearhead the hunt for the best-composed song to be used as the UDA party anthem where the winner is sure of bagging lucrative deals from reputable recording companies as well as cash awards from the UDA Party.

"A vibrant UDA Party is an attractive, progressive outfit for any sane Kenyan." The new members insisted," Malala shared on his social media accounts.

The winning song will be used as the party's official anthem and the winner will be assured of lucrative deals from reputable recording companies on top of the cash reward.

The UDA party, which was formed after a fallout with the Jubilee party, is looking to solidify its position as the current ruling party in the country by tapping into Kenya's creative industry which has been on a rapid rise since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

It has been on a relentless poaching spree of politicians drawn from other parties, most of which are affiliated with the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

"This afternoon, our party reaped big yet again as we welcomed members defecting from Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, Wiper Party, CCU Party, Muungano Party and several other parties from the vast Kamba nation into the Ruling party, UDA.

"The leaders who included, Senatorial candidates, Lucas Muthoka, Dr Musila and Stephen Kyallo, Women Reps, Rita Ndunge, and Selina Mwende amongst 17 other Parliamentary candidates and over 70 MCA candidates from the Kamba nation, pledged to fully stick to the UDA Party ideals and rally their unwavering support behind President Ruto's administration," stated Malala.

The party earlier on welcomed musician Kevin Bahati to its ranks alongside his wife, Diana Marua and the likes of MC Jessy, KRG The Don, Diana Marua, DJ Kwenye Beat, Sammy Boy, Mash Mwana, and Dufla Diligon among other musicians and entertainers.

Bahati lost in the race for Mathare Member of Parliament (MP) in the August 9, 2022 elections while running under a Jubilee ticket.

He finished third with 8,166 votes behind the incumbent Anthony Oluoch of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party who secured his seat for another term.
