Ivy Chelimo, a lifestyle influencer, content creator and law graduate from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) is arguably the biggest online celebrity in Kenya right now, having masterminded Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's new nickname.

Her post on Twitter reading "Riggy G amekataa kutaja freedom (Riggy G has refused to mention Uhuru)" went almost unnoticed during the deputy presidential debate but burst into fame during the inauguration ceremony of President William Ruto on Tuesday, September 13, and Chelimo was exposed as the brains behind 'Riggy G'.

Not many details are known about her personal life. However, Viral Tea stumbled upon a photo posted on Instagram three years ago showing her and Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) sports anchor, Caren Kibbett.

The photo that captured Chelimo and Kibbett wearing long, pink dresses that accentuated her curves raised our curiosity, given that with all the fanfare surrounding the former, this was one photo that has gone largely unnoticed.

"Blood," Kibbett captioned the photo, to which Viral Tea can authoritatively confirm that Kibbet and Chelimo are cousins. Chelimo is the younger cousin between the two, according to sources who whispered to us, but how do their profiles compare?

Caren Kibbett Profile

In a previous interview with Viral Tea, Kibbett revealed that she studied at Peace Junior School, a private and multi-cultural day and boarding school based in Nairobi that offers quality pre and primary school education based on Christian principles.

She then went to Singore Girls High School in Keiyo North Constituency, Elegeyo-Marakwet County before proceeding to the University of Nairobi (UoN) where she attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Production.

Kibbett was previously at K24 TV up until June 2020 when she was among hundreds of journalists who were laid off by Mediamax Networks, which owns the station, in a controversial move that swept clean its entire newsroom.

In June 2021, she made a comeback to TV screens after unveiling her own show dubbed #InsideSports that aired via her YouTube Channel. In August of that year, KBC poached her following a massive rebranding in July 2021 in a bid to get back to its glory days.

Kibbett is now a Sports News Anchor on the country's first Television channel, presenting the latest in the world of sports every Monday to Friday at 9 pm. Her irresistible curves coupled with her bubbly personality and smile are believed to be one of the major factors behind KBC's huge traffic on both its social media platforms and TV viewership.

Ivy Chelimo Profile

On her part, Chelimo was born in Eldoret and moved to Nairobi for her school. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she developed an idea to venture into content creation, considered one of the most lucrative hustles in recent times.

She had completed her undergraduate degree and revealed how juggling school and creating content proved to be a tall order.

“I love restaurants and travelling but had to remain indoors during the lockdown so I started documenting my daily activities. I developed a liking for taking pictures and the rest is history," she said in a previous interview.

“It was quite a hustle but my passion is my drive. I enjoy both law and creating lifestyle content but if I get an opportunity in the latter I would be willing to fully venture into it.”

Chelimo is an ardent follower of politics and regarding her political ambitions, she aspires to vie for either a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) or a Senator in the 2027 general elections.

On Sunday, October 2, DP Gachagua instructed her sons to look for Chelimo so that she can sit down with the family for dinner. He also disclosed that he was planning to offload part of his Ksh1.22 million salary to boost her as she carries out her work.

"I want to encourage that young girl, I will see what I can do for her so that I can see, from my salary, if I can boost her a little bit to be able to do something," he promised.
