The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) will close a section of Lang'ata Road near Carnivore Grounds and Uhuru Gardens for two days.

In a notice dated Friday, September 30, KeNHA noted that the closure will last 12 hours, on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2.

The U-turn after the Carnivore entrance and the Uhuru Gardens entrance will be closed from 5 am to 5 pm on the aforementioned dates as contractors erect a footbridge for passengers to cross safely.

KeNHA had commissioned the T-Mall footbridge on August 5 as part of the government's plan to improve transport across Kenya.

Construction of the T-Mall flyover by a Spanish engineering company, Centurion, began in November 2020 to help address traffic flow in and out of Nairobi CBD.

The project was carried out under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Government of Kenya and that of Spain.

T-Mall flyover now links Lang’ata and Karen as well as the Wilson airport, army barracks and Nairobi national park.

The erection of the T-Mall Bridge was meant to allow vehicles headed to Ongata Rongai and Magadi to use the elevated road while those headed to Mbagathi Road, South C and Wilson Airport to use the underpass.

The construction coincided with the completion of the Nairobi Expressway as the road to solving perennial traffic problems in the city was addressed.

In addition, public transport in the city could get a new face with the BRT project, on Thika Road. Despite the project being delayed several times, it was commissioned to decongest traffic in the city.
