Kalonzo Sponsors 500 Fans To Attend Harambee Stars' Next Matches At Kasarani
Like many Kenyans, Kalonzo followed the action on Sunday, August 3, as Kenya faced off against the Democratic Republic of Congo in their opening Group A clash.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has pledged to sponsor at least 500 fans to attend the next three Harambee Stars fixtures in the African Nations Championship.
Like many Kenyans, Kalonzo followed the action on Sunday, August 3, as Kenya faced off against the Democratic Republic of Congo in their opening Group A clash.
Austine Odhiambo, Gor Mahia’s playmaker, netted the only goal of the match in the first half, securing a crucial win for the Harambee Stars.
The victory sparked a rare show of unity on social media, with leaders from across Kenya’s political spectrum coming together to celebrate the national team’s success.

Although Kalonzo didn’t attend the game at the Moi International Sports Complex, he shared photos and videos of himself watching and supporting the team alongside fellow dignitaries.
"Football is a universal language that brings people together, regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs, or political affiliation. Thus, this regime's wholesale ticket buying, which denies genuine football fans the opportunity to see their #HarambeeStars, should be condemned.
"I'm sponsoring 500 fans to attend the next three #CHAN2025 Harambee Stars matches at Kasarani through the Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA), of which I am the patron. Football is for everyone," Kalonzo wrote on his social media handles.
At Kasarani, Harambee Stars were backed by tens of thousands of fans who began arriving as early as 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 3.
By the time the match kicked off, crowds were still pouring in despite tight security checks, and the stadium was nearly full as Kenya went into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
Next up, Harambee Stars will face Angola on August 7—a tough clash against Benni McCarthy’s side. That match will be followed by what’s expected to be their most challenging Group A fixture, against Morocco on August 10.
Kenya will wrap up the group stage against Zambia on August 17, with all of their home games hosted at the newly renovated Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.
In addition to Kalonzo, other opposition leaders also praised the national team’s performance. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua posted on X: “Congratulations, Harambee Stars, on your 1-0 win in the opening CHAN Match against DR Congo at Kasarani.”
Before kickoff, President William Ruto joined in the CHAN momentum by announcing a range of incentives to motivate the team.
Among the most notable was a promise of Ksh1 million to each Harambee Stars player for every match they win in the 19-team tournament.
