Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Thursday, February 20 clapped back at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna who boldly claimed on national television that President William Ruto was associating himself with academically deficient individuals.

It all began when Sifuna, while appearing on Citizen TV, questioned why the President, despite holding a PhD, was associating with Oscar Sudi, whom he referred to as a class two dropout.

During the interview, Sifuna alleged that the President's policies had been hindered by the incompetence of his close allies.

“I have never seen a PHD holder who hangs out with class two dropouts because doing so lowers the average intelligence to at least Class 8. They say birds of the same feather flock together how are you a PHD holder and you hang out with Sudi? Sifuna posed.

Sudi, in a video clip shared in response to Sifuna's remarks, argued that he wields an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) that exceeds that of the Nairobi Senator.

"Edwin Sifuna, you're saying Ruto is hanging out with Class 2 dropouts, are our voters graduates? Can you compare me with you Sifuna?

"Look for somebody you can compare William Ruto with, but not me. I'm in another class, you can ask about my history. You don't have even a quarter of my knowledge," he hit back.

Sudi also criticized Sifuna for his constant remarks against the government, dismissing them as childish statements.

“Sifuna, while education is undeniably important, effective leadership requires more than just academic credentials. It's a blend of intelligence and inherent qualities, something that Wamunyoro's lapdog doesn't seem to fathom,” said Sudi.

The PhD conversation took centre stage when President Ruto, during his recent Northern Kenya tour, responded to critics opposed to the nationwide livestock mass vaccination campaign, calling them fools who do not have the range to address him due to their lack of adequate education.

"If we sell our meat internationally, is there a problem? If we sell our milk abroad, is there a problem? I see that there are people who are complaining, and I don't know where they learned," Ruto stated during a visit to Garissa County.

"Don't I have a PhD? I know what is happening in Kenya. Now those with little education are trying to teach me. What are you teaching me?"

Meanwhile, during a show on Citizen TV, Sifuna firmly stated that he would not support President Ruto’s re-election, even if ODM party leader Raila Odinga endorsed him.

The ODM SG also emphasized that he was not concerned about how this stance might affect his senatorial position, noting that he had enjoyed serving as Nairobi Senator for the past five years but did not see re-election as a "life or death situation."
