Video Of Kitengela Club Owner Threatening Female Employee Gets Police Attention

The National Police Service (NPS) is appealing to a woman who was filmed in a viral video confronting the owner of Rixxos Lobby and Grill in Kitengela, Kajiado County to file a complaint before necessary action can be taken against him.

The video seen by Viral Tea saw the woman, an employee of the entertainment joint, demanding the owner whom she refers to as Jaymo, to pay her the monthly salary she worked for.

Meanwhile Jaymo could be heard refusing to surrender to her demands that he pays her while hurling obscenities at her.

"So, I'm here for my salary and you want to hit me...," she said, to which he replied "I'm not paying you."

While heard seemingly daring him to hit her, Jaymo could be seen showing him what appears to be the number of the President.

Reports linked the true ownership of the restaurant to former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family.

"There's nowhere you can take me. I speak to the President directly, there's nothing you're going to do to me. You're not my agemate," Jaymo continued.

"If I want to be firm on you, I can fix you with a difficult case and you will come begging for me."

After the one minute-29 second clip sparked uproar on social media platforms, Deputy Inspector General Noor Gabow urged the woman to file a case on the matter at any police station amidst investigations that have been launched.

"The National Police Service has taken note of a distasteful video clip circulating on the social media showing a man alleged to be the owner of Rixxos Lounge in Kitengela harassing and threating a female employee demanding her unpaid salary.

"In accordance with the National Police Service mandate to serve and protect all citizens, we have commenced our investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, we are urging the lady in the video to file a formal complaint at any police station to enable the police take the most appropriate legal action into the matter," the NPS stated in part.

The police went on to remind the public that the law will be applied equally irrespective of anybody's social networks or status.

Under the law, every worker is entitled to receive full payment for work. Full pay includes wages, which are payments made hourly, daily, weekly or piecemeal.

The Labour Institutions Act gives the Cabinet Secretary for Labour, Social Security and Services the authority to publish wages orders to provide for minimum wages and other matters. The prescribed minimum wage varies for different categories of employees. 

The minimum wage also differs depending on the employment sector and physical location of employment, and is reviewed by the government periodically.

Rixxos Lounge was launched on October 29, 2022 and is situated in the outskirts of Kitengela town along the Namanga highway. It is constructed in a square form with various lounges around the block where visitors can sit and enjoy their favorite meals.

At the center of the property is a green space with six sunken underground lounges for reservation perfect for a couple’s dinner date. 

At the restaurant, one can enjoy their favorite drink either alcoholic or non-alcoholic, as well as delicious meals prepared by highly qualified chefs.
