WATCH: Kioni Storms Out Of TV Interview Over Maalim's Defence Of Gen Z Remarks
Maalim's denial of a viral clip which captured him allegedly telling President William Ruto to rein in Gen Z protesters who had been exercising their constitutional rights in opposition to the Finance Bill 2024 did not sit well with Kioni

What was to be a smooth-sailing TV interview on Wednesday night, October 23 turned into intense drama after Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni stood up and walked out of the interview, leaving Daadab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim hanging.
The incident took place during a TV47 interview whereby Kioni and Maalim were invited as panellists to discuss matters revolving around the State of the Nation.
Maalim's denial of a viral clip which captured him allegedly telling President William Ruto to rein in Gen Z protesters who had been exercising their constitutional rights in opposition to the Finance Bill 2024 did not sit well with Kioni, with the lawmaker urging Kioni to produce evidence of making the comments word for word.
Kioni, seemingly upset by the MP's stance, was forced to cut the lawmaker midway and insisted that he would not keep debating Maalim, despite desperate efforts by the interviewer to protect Maalim.

“It is my business to ensure I am engaging in a debate with people who have respect for Kenyans,” he fired at the interviewer.
MP Farah and the interviewer asked Kioni to produce evidence to which he retorted, “It is not for me to take him to court, he said and he is a mature person.”.
Kioni was rattled by Farah's refusal to show remorse for his utterances, leading to a heated exchange to the point that the former stormed out of the studio live on camera after an exchange with both the interviewer and his fellow panellist.
The SG told off the interviewer, affirming that if he was informed that he was going to debate with MP Farah he would have turned down the interview maintaining he could not share the podium with Farah.
“I came here because you invited me and I asked you clearly who I am coming to debate with. If you would have told me it is Farah I would have respectfully told you no," he reasoned, cornering the interviewer for forcing him to engage in a debate with an individual he viewed as not respectful to the lives of Kenyans.
“I am taking offence that you (interviewer) are putting on the same table with a person who wanted to kill 5,000 Gen Zs and there is no way he can escape with it,” Kioni asserted as he walked out.
On his part, MP Farah demanded Kioni to produce evidence. “When you don’t have substance and you are scared of somebody. He (Kioni) understands my position, he understands my principle he understands my history very well and he knows he cannot debate with me on substantive issues that’s why he has to digress into other issues," he defended himself.
Maalim's remarks sparked uproar and led to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) summoning him over the same, despite maintaining that the video that went viral capturing his remarks was manipulated as a political weapon to be used against him.
KTN News anchor, Ken Mijungu, in response to the remarks, announced on his X account that he had banned Maalim from being hosted on his shows...permanently.
