Media personality Willis Raburu on Monday, July 17 made public details of a job he landed at Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja's office, less than three weeks after leaving Citizen TV.

Speaking on Phil Director’s podcast, the renowned presenter gave a glimpse of his new role and explored plans for his feature after leaving Royal Media Services (RMS).

Raburu had described himself as a consultant and a strategist while indicating that he would play an integral role in various projects for the governor’s benefit and other companies.

“There are so many things that I think I do. I am a strategist, consultant and so, I am doing some things here and there for our good governor and other companies,” Raburu said.

He expressed excitement about his new endeavour, though noting that he was still looking at other options, including a potential return to the screen, acknowledging the growth of the digital space.

Despite Raburu not disclosing details about his specific role during the interview, a report by Nairobi News revealed that he would serve as Sakaja’s Communications Director.

In the role, he will be responsible for managing media relations and developing contacts with media members, influencers, and community leaders, as well as leading a team of communication, marketing, and design professionals and assisting in the creation of digital, video, audio and print content.

Raburu furthermore hinted at returning to the music scene, having been a prominent feature in his first single dubbed 'Kalale' in 2021, a song that features singers Rekless Breeder LW, Mejja and Ssaru and was aimed at igniting Gengetone.

"Gengetone was getting bad breath and at that time my goal was to ignite the industry. So Breeder was my first choice because he had mentioned me in one of his lyrics (10/10 ishaifungwa kama Willis), for Mejja I love his music and I needed someone who has some longevity in the game.

"Rekless was a top artiste then and I needed a female who could spit so I chose Ssaru and put them together. People kept hating but music lovers kept listening until we hit 8 million views," he explained.

He added that he had several songs he was yet to release with various artists including Khaligraph Jones, Masauti, and Okello Max among others.

His last day at the station, the former 10 over 10 host had stated, was on Friday, June 30, 2023. Raburu in his exit statement on Monday, June 26 lauded RMS for giving him the opportunity to grow in different multi-media sectors including interviewing President William Ruto and his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.
