The five, according to EACC, include Rose Esther Muthoni Wamuiya (Former CEC Member, Trade), Vincent Muiruri Wambui, Sophia Wairimu Karanja, Shadrack Kanyungo Ndirangu and Timothy Ngunjiri Kiragu.

The suspects were accused of paying Ksh13 million to six suppliers through fraudulent means, the suppliers revealed to have not supplied anything to the county government.

"The suspects will be charged with offences relating to fraudulent payment of Kes. 13,000,000 to 6 suppliers who did not supply anything to the County Government.

"Investigations established that the suspects forged documents to falsely show that the suppliers facilitated a County Investment Conference, which did not take place," stated EACC in part.

The Commission is pursuing three other suspects believed to be hiding to evade arrest.

They include Simon Mwangi Nganga (Former CEC Member, Water), Daniel Kamua Muguko (Chief Officer, Trade) and Regina Wairimu Wacira (Chief Auditor).

EACC did not however reveal how Kenyans with information about the suspects could reach out to them.

However, members of the public with reports of suspected corruption by any state or public official were encouraged to share the same with EACC for action per the law through the toll-free number 1551.

EACC has been tightening its noose on corrupt officials working in the government and state parastatals, among others. Recently, it announced the arrest of an Assistant County Commissioner who stole food valued at Ksh550,200.

The anti-corruption body accused Assistant County Commissioner Teddy Buya Bonaya who is stationed in Ganze Sub-County, in Kilifi County, of stealing and selling relief food meant for poor families in Tana River.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned on Thursday, February 1 in connection with the stealing allegations.
