State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed hit out at Kenyans criticising President William Ruto for his Christmas donations to his neighbours in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County.

This is after thousands of Kenyans trooped to the President’s residence for the free Christmas gifts, with some arriving as early as 4:00 am.

A section of Kenyans were displeased with Ruto's act of kindness and charity, with some claiming that the President's enforcement of punitive tax policies had made Kenyans poorer than ever before.

“President William Ruto today sharing with his neighbours in Sugoi during this festive season. Unbelievable how some (whose sport is to find fault at everything as the President said) would criticise sharing with the people.” Hussein posted on his X account.

The former Citizen TV anchor argued that those who were criticising the President for his Christmas gift were doing so with a bad heart against the Christmas spirit of giving to the less fortunate in society.

“If you're against sharing with your neighbours and humanity, you might want to check if your heart's still beating. Being mean is bad, but it’s even worse to campaign against sharing with humanity.” he lamented.

Viral videos depicted very long queues consisting of Ruto’s neighbours drawn from Uasin Gishu and Kakamega counties queuing to receive the goodies.

“Citizens lining up for relief food one week after their favourite God-chosen minister said they can't put food on everyone's table because Kenya is not an autocracy,” Gabriel Oguda joked.

They received essential items like wheat flour, cooking oil, and rice from President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto at the Sugoi residence.

During his speech in Sugoi, President Ruto urged Kenyans to be patriotic and uphold the ideals of the country’s forefathers.

He said Kenyans should maintain a positive perspective of their country irrespective of circumstances, saying challenges facing the nation were being addressed.

“Some people are blowing some issues about the country out of proportion instead of showing love for the nation,” the Head of State criticised.

President Ruto has been in the hot seat for his government's splashing of expenditure on foreign travel amidst a struggling economy.
