Media personality Betty Kyallo broke her silence on Tuesday, January 17 after she went viral on social media on claims there were intimate photos and videos of her leaked to the public.

Many Kenyans took to social media claiming that they had seen and were in possession of, the raunchy material which made her trend on Twitter on Monday night, January 16 and spilt over into the following morning.

After investigations carried out by Viral Tea, it was discovered that the video captured Kyallo believed to be with an unidentified man at what looks like a party, and they are kissing.

Kyallo however noted that she would not deal with the allegations that threatened her peace. This is despite issuing a statement revealing that she has reported the matter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director of Cybercrime (CRIB).

“Sorry, that’s another b*tch. I am not dealing with anybody or anything that will cost me my peace. My peace is my number one priority and I am gonna protect my peace at all costs,” she said in a video on her Instagram.

In another pair of responses on her Instagram stories, she asked Kenyans whether she should take advantage of her virality to promote her business, a show she is featured in, or a song she seemed to be working on.

“Now that you are all talking about me, should I drop a song, Kyallo Kulture 2 or launch a business,” she said in a tongue-in-cheek reaction.

"We take this opportunity to repudiate the attempt to remotely or directly link Betty Kyallo with the false narrative made in the fake news stories. We have lodged an official complaint with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Director of Cybercrime (CR&IB) and we have been assured that any person(s) and/or blogs, or social media accounts found guilty of originating the false news will be prosecuted.

"The nature of the content circulating social media platforms is false, malicious and of the intent to tarnish the Betty Kyallo brand which has been carefully cultivated over the past decade. The aforementioned content is in no way a representation of the Betty Kyallo brand," she stated through her brand manager, Medios Limited.

In the midst of an environment plagued with all manner of problems in Kenya, most of them to do with the cost of living, the one thing that seems to unite Kenyans at any given point is leaked steamy videos on the internet, especially of celebrities.

Earlier this month, former Machachari TV series actor Tyler Mbaya (Baha) and his girlfriend Georgina Njenga made headlines after the latter's raunchy video was leaked onto the internet, which made her trend for the better part of Thursday, January 5.

The clip was leaked on Telegram and captured her dancing naked while inside a room.

While responding to blogger Edgar Obare who sought clarity on the same, Njenga exposed a man who was studying at Kenyatta University (KU) who seemed not to be happy about her relationship with the actor who is also a content creator.

"It happened when I was 17 with someone I liked. He was a guy in KU university's Ruiru campus. Reasons for leaking I don't know," she said.

She added that the incident happened in 2020 and the man began threatening her immediately after she went public regarding her relationship with Baha, despite her not dating him.

When questioned why the man would be upset about her relationship with Baha, Njenga answered "Because it was a win in my life and he had something against me".

Baha then responded by stating that the couple would take legal action against the person responsible.
