Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has announced that the results of the just-concluded Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations would be released by January 23, 2023.

Speaking to the media on Friday, December 23 in Nairobi, Kipsang stated that the Ministry of Education had already worked out a plan that would see the results released before the start of the new academic year when schools are expected to reopen.

He added that the marking of the exams- which ended on Friday- was underway with examiners working even into the festive season to ensure they complete the exercise before then.

"As we mark the end of the national examinations 2022 cycle today, all the examination handlers and examiners will have a busy Christmas as the marking of KCSE 2022 will start immediately.

"This is to ensure we release the results before the commencement of the academic Calendar for 2023," Kipsang stated.

He added that the examiners will ensure that whatever the candidates scored was what was extracted from their answer sheets.

With regard to the Form One selection after the release of the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results on Wednesday, December 21, Kipsang noted that the candidates will know their high schools on January 16, 2023.

He added that he promises to ensure that the selection process is carried out with transparency and fairness, noting that no one will be discriminated against.

"As we look forward to commencing the form one selection in January 2023, we want to assure all parents, guardians and learners that we shall be transparent, fair and we shall do the right thing for each child to get a school that they chose and deserve to be there," Kipsang said.

Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) CEO, David Njeng'ere echoed that the body had been fair in the marking process of the KCPE exams and would implement the same in the KCSE exams.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu released the 2022 KCPE results on Wednesday, announcing that the top student scored 431 marks. He did not reveal who that student was.

Lewis Otieno Omondi and Fwaro Makokha were moments after revealed to have attained 431 marks each.
