Renowned broadcast journalist, Grace Kuria Kanja, is leaving TV47 under Cape Media Limited.

A reliable source confirmed to Viral Tea that Kuria was leaving the TV station, barely six months after joining from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Though Kuria asked not to comment on the matter when reached out to by Viral Tea, she bid farewell to her colleagues on Monday, January 8, praising them for the fantastic work they did alongside her at the station.

"Hello, team. Happy New Year! It's been an awesome 6 months plus at TV47, working alongside a fantastic, gifted team with so much potential," an internal message to her colleagues seen by Viral Tea read in part.

She expressed her gratitude to them, particularly those she worked with during the weekends that she was presenting the 9 pm news bulletin as well as two feature shows.

"I'm grateful to each one of you, and particularly those we worked with every Saturday and Sunday, on HerSay and ToThePoint. Like they say, it's not a goodbye but a see you later. Blessings to each one of you. GKK," she signed off.

The source further revealed to Viral Tea that Kuria is heading to an international media house which is yet to be established.

In July 2023, Viral Tea became the first media house to break the news that she was headed to TV47 from BBC where she had spent the last year.

Kuria possesses great knowledge in reporting for TV and Digital media, Presenting/Anchoring, Producing and Editing.

The move marked a comeback to national television screens for her, having joined BBC on September 23, 2021, just three days after she announced her departure from China Global Television Network (CGTN).

At BBC, she was a presenter for The She Word, a show dealing with stories connecting today's African women.

At TV47, she held high-profile interviews with the US ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman and the First Lady of Namibia Monica Geingos, among other thought-inspiring interviews.

She was among journalists who were hosted by President William Ruto during a roundtable interview at State House, Nairobi on December 17, 2023.

Kuria is likely to join journalists who have been poached from Kenyan media houses by international media giants over the years.

The latest ironically came from TV47, with news anchor and political reporter, Flora Limukii, joining CNBC (formerly Consumer News and Business Channel), a global broadcaster whose African division is headquartered in South Africa.

She is currently based in Kigali, Rwanda.
