Khamisi passed away at the age of 72 years old.

His demise was first announced by KBC which also shared a tribute to him on his social media pages.

Journalists then eulogised him with messages of their own, praising him as a valuable personality in the Kenyan media industry known memorably for his commanding voice on the radio.

"The first radio voice I remember on VoK as a 4-year-old is that of Khamisi Themor. He gave us the news each day as VoK turned to KBC that year.

"He is not just a pioneer of this industry but a great media scholar. May he rest well," Oliver Mathege, NTV Multimedia editor eulogised.

"I still remember his baritone voice. A legend. Rest in peace Khamis Themor. My deepest condolences to the family," Ken Aseka weighed in.

"This man Khamisi Themor was the standard of how Swahili news was read on TV and on the radio. Kiarie John and the Redykylukass crew immortalized him with the "Wakati Huo Huo" link on the news on VOK/KBC.  He was the face and voice of news on Radio Taifa," Daniel Wahome echoed.

Khamisi is a legend at the KBC station, having started there when it was still named Voice of Kenya (VOK) prior to its rebranding.

He was famous for the following introduction: "Hii ni Mukhtasari wa habari ukisomewa na Khamisi Themor, na kwanza ni mukhtasari."
