JKIA To Unveil Luxury Lounge With Free WiFi, 150 Guests, Workspaces
The new facility sits on 366 square meters of space and features designs modern and sophisticated enough to match international standards.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on Monday, January 29 announced that a new lounge at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi would be open soon to meet the demands of local and international travellers.
In a notice, KAA indicated that the new facility at JKIA will be known as Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi.
The new facility sits on 366 square meters of space and features designs modern and sophisticated enough to match international standards.
In a bid to increase holding capacity at the country's biggest airport, the lounge will accommodate up to 150 guests.

Other key features at the lounge include plush seating as well as high-speed WiFi.
In a bid to conform to the new norms of increased remote work, the lounge will feature dedicated workspaces that will satisfy both business as well as leisure travellers.
"OPENING SOON at JKIA! Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi! With 366 sqm of modern and sophisticated design, the new lounge will accommodate 150 guests. Enjoy plush seating, high-speed Wi-Fi, and dedicated workspaces, catering to both business & leisure travellers," stated KAA in part.
The gates of the new facility will be opened on February 2, 2024. Its grand opening is expected to elevate JKIA to international standards.
Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi's opening will coincide with the official commissioning of the new generators at JKIA. KAA had announced that the new generators will be commissioned this week after testing.
"The committee inspected ongoing works of the facility's rooftop; They also inspected the airport's new generators undergoing testing before their commissioning next week," KAA announced.
Other rehabilitation works have been ongoing to change the face of JKIA after it came under scrutiny across the country for defects that prominently included the leaking of roofs.
This is on top of power blackouts that hit the airport, the first one in late August 2023 which crippled operations at the airport that forced Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen into radical changes.
