The Jubilee Party under former President Uhuru Kenyatta has now said that it will attend the public rallies by Azimio la Umoja coalition leader, Raila Odinga if they will be required to do so.

Speaking to Spice FM on Monday, December 5, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni revealed that they are awaiting further details of the rally set for Wednesday, December 7 alongside other party members affiliated with the coalition.

Kioni added that he would reach out to the former Prime Minister to get the specifics of the rally meeting.

"We will get the details of it. If it is a rally that we will need to attend as members of the opposition then we will attend. I am sure we will get communication from Raila Odinga.

"I will reach out to him so that we get into the details of when is the rally meeting and what is the plan," he said.

In defence of Raila's plan to protest against Ruto's administration, Kioni argued that protesting is an important tool that the opposition can use and a tool which Raila is using if need be.

He urged the government to pay attention to the issues raised by the opposition instead of stating that they are ready to handle the protests.

"Protesting is a tool that is available to the opposition and they should use it when they think it is appropriate. It is also provided for in the constitution," he said.

“The government should not say that they are ready for the protesting, that is being arrogant."

The Jubilee Party had initially stated that it would not participate in Odinga’s rallies which are set to kick off on Wednesday at the Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi, one of two separate rallies he plans to have.

Another public rally to be held on Monday, December 12 will coincide with the Jamhuri Day celebrations to be presided over by President William Ruto.

Raila has since teased making a big revelation at the rally with regards to how he was rigged out of the August 9 elections.
