In 2022, former Education CS George Magoha announced that Kabianga recorded over 149,087 applications out of a capacity of 528, which placed it as the second most selected school during the year. The school that it beat- Nanyuki High School- was the most preferred by KCPE candidates across the country for two years in a row; 2022 and 2021.
What is more surprising about it is the stellar list of alumni, who include Citizen TV's Stephen Letoo, former Energy CS Charles Keter and Manuel Chogge, Chief Executive Officer at Choggs Brothers Limited.
For Letoo, Kabianga was his high school, having been born to a chief in Kilgoris, Transmara before venturing into the University of Nairobi to pursue journalism. It was there that he would present news to fellow students on Mondays and Fridays.
The school has over the years been known to do so well in both regional and national exams. Its exemplary performance in KCSE examinations remains one of the main reasons that the school is among the most sought-after schools in the county.
For instance, in 2018’s KCSE results, the school had a mean score of 6.91, becoming position nine in Kericho county where Moi Tea led with a mean score of 9.63. During the following year, it attained a mean score of 7.7047 and retained the same position in the county.
In KCSE 2021, the school had a candidature of 349 and enjoyed an exemplary performance after posting a mean of 9.3467.
In addition to the commendable mean score, Kabianga High School also boasts of a good number of direct entries to university.
Out of the 349 registered candidates, 336 managed to score above C+, which is the minimum university entry grade. The 336 candidature translates to 96.28 per cent of the total registered candidates.
