Outspoken political activist, Kasmuel McOure on Sunday, October 6 embarked on a heated spree on social media in a bid to clear his name of a wave of accusations from Kenyans who claimed he had betrayed the movement against the Kenya Kwanza regime.

Kasmuel has faced intense criticism in recent days following his failure to address the attack on Morara Kebaso at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday, October 4, a venue where Kenyans had gathered to submit their views on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's proposed impeachment.

After Morara was kicked out, McOure was given a chance to speak at the Bomas auditorium, but steered clear of the incident that had transpired moments earlier involving his peer and fellow activist and resorted to call for Gachagua's ouster.

This did not sit well with Kenyans who expected him to condemn the attack on Morara by goons, and on Sunday, he appeared to intensify the criticism online when he decided to take on those calling him out online, one-on-one.

In a series of tweets, the singer-turned-activist slammed online users as he boldly refuted claims he had been 'bought' by someone in government.

"If I ever sell my integrity, I’ll be the first to make it known. If you have proof of the little I’ve received, table it," he said. "I say this because you don’t support me for who I am, but because it’s inconvenient for who you’re against, therefore convenient for you."

In response to threats from online users about de-platforming him, McOure vowed to continue with his cause even though it was revealed that he lost more than 141,000 followers on X.

"Why would anyone threaten me with de-platforming?" he questioned. "The real challenge is deplatforming me from your mothers’ hearts because they see beyond the nonsense and sensationalism you’re trying to advance."

"The majority of the people at Bomas were there concerning the tabled motion of Gachagua must go. I went there with that singularity of purpose, and I hope we achieve it," he explained his reason for showing up at Bomas in the first place.

Further, Kasmuel clarified that his principles are not, and would never be, compromised to betray the clamour for governance change advanced by the Kenyan youth.

Pleading his innocence, the activist swore that he would not tire of using every opportunity he gets to agitate for the country's common good, adding that he was open to losing everything in the course of the fight.

"If this will cost me popularity, so be it. The Internet has never liked me anyway. If it will cost me work, so be it. Our youth are languishing in unemployment. If it will cost me my life, I've said it time without number, so be it. I shall do my honest part and speak truth to power at any opportunity I get while advocating for a stable Kenya for all of us to thrive. Inawezekana!" he affirmed.

Part of the reason McOure is losing the trust of the masses was because he he stood side-by-side with Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang during his address at the Bomas of Kenya.

McOure shot to the limelight in June 2024, at the height of the so-called Gen Z protests. Images and videos of the activist amid Kenyans protesting against bad governance and the Finance bill earned him a lot of traction online, and he followed his new-found fame with a declaration to undertake civic education to enlighten the average Kenyan on the essence of good governance.

On his part, Morara Kebaso also earned plaudits online in recent months after taking it upon himself to follow up on stalled government projects across the country.
