The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue between Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14.

In a notice released on Friday, April 12, the Authority revealed that the road which is one of the main roads to the Central Business District (CBD) will be closed from Saturday at 10:00 pm to Sunday at 5:00 am.

The closure lasting seven hours will allow contractors to install service ducts on the affected section.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD Bound Lanes) between Haile Selassie roundabout and Parliament Road. This closure is scheduled to commence from Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10.00 pm to Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 5.00 am," stated KeNHA in part.

"This is to allow for the installation of Service Ducts."

Service ducts can help keep the building's cables and water pipes within easy access, making any maintenance easier to complete with little disruption.

They also help conceal wires and pipes throughout the building, helping one to create the seamless style that most modern architects require.

KeNHA further advised motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.

Those plying Kenyatta Avenue from the CBD will have to use Uhuru Highway during that period.

Also closed is the Haile Selassie Avenue (Upper Hill bound) between the Neno Evangelism Church detour and Haile Selassie Roundabout.

Haile-Selassie Avenue is one of the busiest roads in the capital city and is majorly used by motorists seeking to access the CBD from Ngong Road, Lang'ata and Mombasa Road among other suburban areas.

Drivers have also been cautioned of major traffic disruption in the remaining roads within the CBD, especially those close to the affected area.

It is therefore advisable to avoid the area undergoing construction until the maintenance is complete, to minimise congestion on the affected days.
